Department of General educational disciplines

All the teachers of the Department of General Educational Disciplines have been working at the School of Pre-University Training of the Belarusian State Economic University for over 20 years and have extensive pedagogical, scientific and methodological work experience. They have developed a number of teaching aids in the disciplines studied by the students of the preparatory department and the preparatory course.

The Department of General Educational Disciplines is represented by:

The teaching staff of the department carry out their activities in the following areas:

Ø Training preparatory course students for passing entrance examinations in the form of testing in the following disciplines:
·     Mathematics;
·     the Russian language;
·     the English language;
·     the History of Belarus;
·     Social Studies.

Training of applicants is conducted in accordance with the programs developed by the department on the basis of the programs of entrance tests to higher schools and universities and the curriculum guides for upper secondary schools, approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.

The teachers have created an integral system for testing students' knowledge by means of thematic, interim, term and final knowledge testing. This allows for constant monitoring knowledge assimilation by both Belarusian and foreign students.

During the academic year, the teachers, together with the students, analyse mistakes and elaborate on the most complicated topics that require special attention, they also conduct ongoing consultations in order to improve skills in performing test tasks. 

Ø Training foreign students of the preparatory department for passing final exams in such disciplines as
·        Russian as a foreign language;
·        Russian as a foreign language: professional vocabulary;
·        Mathematics;
·        Economic Theory;
·        Basics of Computer Literacy;
·        the History of Belarus.

Education is based on the programs developed on the basis of the typical programs of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and approved by the scientific and methodological council of the university.
Foreign students who successfully pass final exams in the disciplines studied receive a certificate and are enrolled on the 1st or 2nd stage of education without taking exams.

In the process of training at the preparatory department, the teachers of the department help foreign students
§  adapt to new conditions of studying at BSEU and new living conditions in an unfamiliar country;
§  decide on the choice of a profession, with the specialties offered by the university schools at the 1st and 2nd stages of education;
§  get acquainted with the history and culture of the Republic of Belarus and its capital – the city of Minsk.

 The department annually updates educational and methodological material for the disciplines taught in accordance with changes in the topics and structure of the tasks at the centralized testing for applicants of the preparatory course and final exams for foreign students of the preparatory department.
