The program aims to prepare highly skilled professionals in the area of international trade and international trade policy equipped with the trade-related knowledge and language skills necessary to successfully work at an international level in today's globalized world economy.

Training is delivered in English by leading faculty members of the Belarus State Economic University (BSEU),representatives of Belarusian government bodies,and experts from international organizations specialized in international economics and trade policy. Modern educational methods and technologies, such as simulations exercises, case studies, work with data, work on projects, multimedia resources and videoconferences, are employed in the training process.

The program, with itsunique set of courses,has no Russian language equivalent in the Republic of Belarus.

Program Description (training plan)

The programhas been designed by the BSEU Department of World Economy, with technical support fromthe Virtual Institute of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the University of Applied SciencesBerlin.

The graduates will acquire specialist knowledge of the international trading system, in particular the rules and operation of the World Trade Organization (WTO), learn about the trade policy regimes of specific countries, as well as regional integration agreements, and complement their knowledge of economics with notions of international economic law and cross-cultural communication. This unique set of skills will equip themfor work both in the government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions and countries' representative offices in international and regional organizations) and the business sector (Chamber of Industry and Commerce, international trade departments of national companies).

The Program lasts 1.5 years(three terms) and is complemented with a one-month internship aimed to allow the students to apply the knowledge acquired in their studies to practical work assignments in the government or the business sector.The students are also required to write and defend a Master's thesis at the end of their studies.

Upon graduation, the students are awarded a degree of Master of Economics majoring in «International Economics and Trade Policy» (specialization 25 81 «Economics»).
Students benefit from access to the vast BSEU library and the materials and resources of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute. Modern technical facilities provide the perfect learning environment.
