FL students visited the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus

On February 20, 1st and 2nd year students of the Faculty of Law of the Belarusian State Economic University visited a book exposition dedicated to the history of the development of notarial activities and legislation on notaries. The tour was initiated by the Belarusian Chamber of Notaries together with the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus.
Accompanied by Deputy Dean Olga POLESHCHUK, press secretary of the Belarusian Notary Chamber Yury LUKASHEVICH and a member of the Council of Young Notaries of the Belarusian Notary Chamber Nadezhda SHUPENKO, the students learned about the history of the formation of the notaries in Belarus. During the meeting, the tourists got acquainted with legislative acts, commentaries on laws, conference materials, scientific publications and professional periodicals. The students showed great interest in the third section of the exhibition, dedicated to the close interaction of the notaries of the Republic of Belarus with neighboring countries. Further, the guests of the library visited the department of early printed and rare publications, where they got acquainted with the periodicals of 1917, photographs from the albums of the 1930s. And collections of laws of the Soviet period. Future lawyers were interested in the oldest book in the library (dated 1542), the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania of 1588 (published in 1744) and the passport of the Russian Empire during the reign of Nicholas I Pavlovich (published in 1826). Also, the future lawyers talked with the notary Nadezhda SHUPENKO and learned about the peculiarities of the profession and the possibility of practicing at the notary's office.
