"Being a teacher means being responsible": the story of a young specialist at BSEU

Valeria Kucherenko, a teacher-psychologist and laureate of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Gifted Youth, has been working at BSEU for a year now. During this time, she has not only established herself in the profession, but also felt that she made the right choice.

"Being a teacher means, first of all, being responsible. Here I feel that my efforts are recognized, and the team supports me. This motivates me to develop and invest in students," Valeria shares.

Valeria graduated from the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Education at BSEU, which has now been transformed into the Social and Economic Faculty. It was the faculty's leadership that offered her the opportunity to work at the university as a teacher-psychologist. This offer became a logical continuation of her student path:

"I agreed because BSEU is a reliable option for me. There is an atmosphere of warmth, respect and professionalism here."

According to her, the university has become a place of stability, growth and professional development. An important role was played by the environment in which young professionals feel needed and important.

“From the first day, I felt that young teachers are trusted here. There is mentoring, support from the administration, and most importantly, a feeling that you are needed,” she emphasizes.

Working at the university has become for Valeria not just a stage of practice, but a real professional experience filled with interesting practice and live communication with students:

“I work with students, and this is of particular interest. They are all versatile, unique, with their own views and interests. This makes my work lively and inspiring.”

She especially notes the support of young professionals, which is expressed not only in mentoring, but also in social guarantees:

“I feel confident and protected. This is important when you are just starting your career.”

Valeria wished those who are just starting their professional career to believe in themselves and be open.
