BSEU Hosted a Meeting with a Representative of the Investigative Committee

On August 6, the Belarusian State Economic University hosted a meeting between the staff and a representative of the Zavodskoy District Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk, Roman Aleksandrovich Efimchenko.
The main topic of discussion was combating cybercrime. According to the agency's statistics, today more than a third of all crimes are committed on the Internet.
The speaker focused in detail on current fraudulent schemes:

• "Fake Boss". Scammers create fake social media accounts of the university leadership to collect personal data of employees.
• Calls from fake officials. Psychological pressure via video calls under the guise of police or utility services to force victims into taking out loans.
• Phishing. Sending malicious links disguised as online voting, which leads to device hacking.
• Extortion on marketplaces. Remote blocking of iPhones through a stranger's iCloud when selling devices on kufar.by.

Roman Efimchenko reminded that law enforcement officers never make calls via messengers. To ensure cybersecurity, the representative recommended setting up two-factor authentication in Telegram, using a separate card for online purchases, and checking suspicious links on the official platform проверь.бел.
