BSEU Joins the Single Safety Day

On 24 September, Belarus held its Single Safety Day. The Belarus State Economic University did not stand aside: on that day, a set of training and practical fire safety events was organised for the university's staff and students.

Deputy Head of the Zavodskoy District Emergency Situations Department Yuri Alexandrovich Rybak reminded students and staff of the clear algorithm of actions in case of fire: how not to panic, respond promptly to any emergency situation and provide first aid correctly before rescuers arrive. The theoretical part was reinforced with practice — an evacuation was carried out from BSEU's academic buildings, during which the action plan for an alarm signal was practised.

Interactive zones were set up on the square near the university. Their stations were presented by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the police, the ambulance service and the Belarusian Red Cross Society. A service dog named Yokki arrived together with an MES canine handler. Participants could do more than just watch from the sidelines — they could try their hand at it themselves: practise cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills on training mannequins, learn the rules of behaviour in a crowd and figure out how to act in a smoke-filled room. Specialists on site showed how to provide first aid correctly and what to do before rescuers arrive.
