BSEU Hosted a Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Belarus

On October 20, 2026, a delegation from the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Belarus visited the Belarus State Economic University. The meeting was attended by the Rector of BSEU Alexei Egorov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil Júlio César Fontes Larangeira, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Olga Morozevich, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Brazil Fabiano Joël Wollmann.

During the meeting, Alexei Egorov briefed the guests on the university's history and international student enrollment. Over its 93 years of operation, the university has graduated around half a million specialists, including the current Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, heads of various ministries and diplomatic missions, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR Andrei Gromyko. Today, 650 international students from over 24 countries study at BSEU. The Rector also highlighted the activities of the Portuguese Language and Culture Center, the Latin American Research Center, and the high demand for educational programs at the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Digital Economy, and the Faculty of International Business Communications.

Mr. Ambassador Júlio César Fontes Larangeira praised the standard of Belarusian education. He noted that under current global conditions, academic and scientific contacts offer a promising avenue for identifying shared interests and strengthening ties between the two nations. The participants discussed opportunities to boost cooperation, noting the existing agreement with the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

The Head of the Brazilian Embassy shared a project concept he had previously implemented in Canada. He proposed exploring the possibility of BSEU students conducting marketing research to analyze the prospects of introducing Brazilian goods (cosmetics, coffee, chocolate) into the local market. The Embassy expressed its readiness to provide informational support to the students. Looking ahead, the parties also touched upon potential cooperation formats, such as organizing Summer or Winter schools, holding joint scientific events, and facilitating academic exchanges.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Ambassador made an entry in the BSEU Guest of Honor Book, after which a guided tour of the university library was arranged for the delegation.
