BSEU at the IV Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security

On 3–4 November, Minsk is hosting the IV Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, which has brought together representatives of foreign ministries, the parliamentary community, academic and expert circles, and international organizations. Representatives of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, headed by Dean Elena Alexandrovna Garashchenko, are taking an active part in the conference.
The event was ceremoniously opened by the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko. In his address, the head of state noted: "Every year we try to make our conference relevant, useful and as substantive as possible. At the same time, life itself suggests the topics for the event's agenda."
The plenary session was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, representatives of foreign ministries of other states, and heads of international organizations.
On the second day of the conference, representatives of the Faculty of International Economic Relations took part in the thematic session "The Role of Women in Strengthening International Peace and Security. From Gender Equality to Sustainable Development." Addressing this topic is particularly relevant in today's international environment, characterized by the transformation of the global political system, growing geopolitical tensions, and the search for new mechanisms to ensure international security. The discussion is given special significance by the fact that 2026 has been declared the Year of the Belarusian Woman in the Republic of Belarus, which underscores the importance of recognizing women's contribution to the preservation and development of society, the strengthening of the family, the economy and social institutions, as well as the expansion of their opportunities for professional and socio-political self-realization.
The discussion brought together representatives of the parliamentary community, academic and expert circles, and international organizations from Belarus, Russia, China, Serbia and Kyrgyzstan. The participants focused on issues of women's parliamentary diplomacy, the development of interparliamentary cooperation, women's participation in arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation processes, as well as the role of youth in promoting the international peace and security agenda. An important component of the discussion was the understanding of the interrelationship between gender equality, social sustainability, demographic well-being and national security: questions were raised about the participation of women and men in addressing demographic challenges, strengthening the institution of the family, and creating conditions for the well-being of future generations.
For Belarus, hosting such events is an important contribution to the development of international dialogue and the strengthening of the country's authority on the world stage. For teachers and the academic community, participation in the conference is an opportunity to be at the center of the current international agenda, broaden professional horizons, and bring real examples of modern diplomacy into the educational process.
