Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba visited BSEU

On July 11, the first visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Pérez BENITEZ to BSEU took place.


Santiago Pеrez Benítez was appointed to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in May 2022, and today, as part of the visit, he met Rector Alexei EGOROV. Mr. Ambassador was accompanied by Counselor Odalis Ballester VIAMONTE - which is remarkable, a graduate of the Belarusian State Economic University. Alexey Egorovtold Mr. Ambassador about our university and specialties; The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation, primarily in the scientific field, and expressed hope for a fruitful friendship between the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba and the Belarusian State University of Economics. Mr. Ambassador noted: “The experience of Cuba's development can be useful for the Belarusian youth, and for us, in turn, the Belarusian economic model is very attractive. We really have a lot in common and we need your experience." As a memorable souvenir, the rector presented the distinguished guest with an illustrated edition of the cultural heritage of our country.
The meeting continued at the Center for Latin American Studies of Belarusian State Economic University. Our university was represented by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Olga MOROZEVICH, Dean of the Faculty of International Business Communications Yulia SHAVRUK and teacher of the Department of German and Romance Languages Angel MUHIKA. Yulia Shavruk told Mr. Ambassador about the Center's many years of activity and noted that BSEU students most often choose Spanish as their second foreign language. In addition, Mr. Ambassador was given a tour of the renovated BSEU library. The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the parties outlined specific stages for further cooperation. “Not only Cuba, but also other Latin American states want to be friends with Belarus, and we see great prospects in scientific, educational, cultural exchange,” summed up Santiago Perez Benitez.
