Meeting of BSEU students with the two-time winner of the TEFI television award Leonid Mlechin

On March 23, BSEU for the first time hosted a creative meeting with the legendary international observer, TV presenter, writer, two-time winner of the TEFI television award Leonid Mikhailovich MLECHIN. Representatives of the BSEU student activists were able to communicate and ask questions not only to the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, but also to the publisher of his books, the editor-in-chief of JSC "Young Guard" Maria Kirillovna ZALESSKAYA.
Vice-rector for educational work Sergey Ivanovich SKRIBA greeted the guests of honor. He told them about our university and expressed his sincere joy at the prospect of students getting to know such bright representatives of the creative sphere. The organizer and moderator of the meeting, Director of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Education of the Belarusian State Economic University Danila Grigorievich Dobrorodniy, in his opening remarks, noted that our guests can tell a lot about their field of professional activity and asked students to use the opportunity and ask questions.
Leonid Mikhailovich MLECHIN preferred to communicate with students in an informal setting. As a professional, he easily found an approach to the audience and demonstrated the ability to captivate everyone with a word. Maintaining visual contact, the writer answered students' questions about the past and future of journalism, his personal assessment of historical events, philosophy and publishing. Leonid Mikhailovich answered interestingly, did not neglect humor and self-irony, and even revealed to the children his professional recipe. A journalist in the third generation, he always listened to his conscience and tried not to impose his opinion on viewers and readers. To this day, he tries to understand what is happening as accurately as possible and tell people about it. Leonid Mikhailovich lives his stories, feels them not as a spectator, but as a participant. Maybe that's why his films are so poignant and his biographies are so "alive". Students admired the fact that Leonid Mikhailovich is also a blogger. He runs a YouTube channel for those who care about our past. Some videos on the channel are gaining more than a million views. With all the experience and with all the achievements, Leonid Mikhailovich remains a modest, highly moral person.
Maria Kirillovna ZALESSKAYA told about what it's like to be a writer-publisher, why she loves books and what makes it possible to sift the wheat from the chaff in the flow of information. “Since the 90s, the book market has been flooded with pseudo-historical books. Then all of a sudden it became possible to publish everything. At this point, there was still strong confidence in the printed word. If they printed it in a book, then it’s true, but everyone printed it indiscriminately. But when people saw that the muddy stream did not dry up, a restructuring of consciousness took place. People began to separate the grains. Education helped them in this. A good education, according to the guest, even today helps to clearly navigate the flow of information. The editor-in-chief believes that the books of the Young Guard publishing house have stood the test of time. A good example is the Life of Remarkable People series of books. For more than 150 years, the world history of mankind has been revealed in it through the fate of people. “In this series, you can find only documented facts,” says Maria Kirillovna. “This is one of the most recognizable series of the publishing house, which has no analogues in the whole world.”
Leonid Mikhailovich and Maria Kirillovna demonstrated that there is no place for confrontation between the author and the publisher - this is a completely friendly duet, thanks to which books are published. After all, Leonid MLECHIN, among other things, is the author of several books in the ZhZL series, edited by Maria ZALESSKAYA.
