Week of Foreign Languages at FCTI-2023

From March 27 to March 31, the traditional Week of Foreign Languages was held at the FCTI. Each day was devoted to one of the languages studied at the faculty: Chinese, English, French, German, Spanish.

The week was opened by Chinese Language Day. There were plenty of puzzles and entertainment: reading hieroglyphs by transcription, a historical quiz, puzzles, quizzes and origami! For correct answers, students received treats: noodles, cookies and other sweets, and on the FCTI BEAUTY zone beloved by all the ladies of the faculty, you could braid cute pigtails or make a temporary henna tattoo.

English took over. Connoisseurs of cinema and music were held in high esteem, who guessed the names of famous actors, and also tried to remember their names from the lines of songs. The most enterprising took part in a master class on making American chocolate chip cookies.

On the Day of the French Language, the children expanded their knowledge about France, and for their curiosity they were treated to airy croissants, delicate canapes, cheese, fragrant honey. The saxophone playing by Maxim Sukhachev (3rd year student, DGT group) created a true atmosphere of calm and tranquility.

Thursday was all about German! Students translated double words from German into Belarusian, guessed famous figures from photos, correlated the names and images of dishes, solved the crossword “Deutsche Städte”, left associations related to Germany on the posters, as well as German-language wishes to their beloved FKTI! Everyone liked cupcakes, mini-Berliners, poppy seed cake, and rock music supported the mood!

On the final holiday of the Week - Spanish Language Day - the guys enjoyed paella, tortilla, oranges, muffins and nachos with salsa and guacamole, admiringly responding: "delicioso"!
The event was attended by honored guests: vice-rector for educational work Sergei SKRIBA, secretary of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union of Belarusian State Economics Viktor GELOKHOV and Associate Professor of the Department of Romance Languages MUJICA Peralta Angel Lohengrin from Venezuela, who brought an amazing dish “arroz con leche y canela”, prepared according to the recipes of Spanish cuisine, to the holiday !
The students played the ukulele, guitar, sang popular songs in Spanish, and took pictures in colorful costumes and with other symbols of Spanish culture!
So, in the last week of March, FCTI students made a correspondence tour of several countries. Everyone was delighted with such a trip! We thank all the organizers and look forward to next year!
