International video bridge "Belarusian-Chinese trade partnership: trends and development prospects" at the FCTI

As part of the decade of student science "Youth in Science and Business - 2023", on April 7, an international video bridge was held at the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Industry. It was attended by Senior Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the People's Republic of China Oksana Valerievna Konstantinovich, a graduate of the FCTI, head of the Department of Commercial Activities and the Real Estate Market Lyudmila Sergeevna Klimchenya, professor-consultant of the Department of Commercial Activities and the Real Estate Market Gennady Antonovich Korolyonok and 3rd year students of the specialization "Commercial activities in the foreign market.
In 2022, Belarus and China celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Bilateral trade over the past 30 years has increased 171 times. Since 2020, China has been the second trading partner of Belarus after the Russian Federation. Oksana Valerievna introduced BSEU students to the Chinese economy. She noted that China is the second largest economy in the world after the United States in terms of nominal GDP, which in 2022 amounted to about 18.3 trillion dollars, and the largest economy in the world since 2014, when measured in purchasing power parity. China is the fastest growing major economy in the world, with an average growth rate of 10% over the past 30 years. Since 1990, the country's economy has grown 48 times. Over the same period, US GDP grew 4.2 times.
During the video meeting, the students got acquainted with the significant results of the trade partnership: mutual trade turnover, export growth rates in 2022, the number of domestic enterprises accredited to work in the Chinese market, the gross volume of Chinese investment in projects, etc. During the event, the students were interested in the Chinese consumer demand for Belarusian goods, peculiarities of doing business in the Chinese market.
This form of meeting with a professional in the field of foreign trade, a graduate of the FCTI, not only allowed students to see foreign trade activities with China, but also to assess the demand for specialists in the chosen specialty "Commercial Activities", the importance of professional competencies formed in the process of studying at BSEU.
