Results of the Student Olympiad in Business and Economic Spanish

FCE students won the III International Student Olympiad-Festival in Statistics, organized by the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS.

The BSEU team - Konstantin Zhbankov, Anastasia Kravtsova and Georgy Skachek - won the Grand Prix based on the results of the team competition among 13 teams from 7 CIS countries, and Anastasia Kravtsova took III place based on the results of the individual testing. The team curator is the head of the statistics department Stanislav Yuryevich Vysotsky.

For the preparation and active participation of the university team in the III International Student Olympiad-Festival in Statistics, for the popularization of statistics in the CIS region and the strengthening of the international statistical community, the Chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS K.E. Laikam expressed gratitude to the rector of our university Alexey Vladimirovich Egorov.

The Olympiad program included 3 stages: a creative task (a creative presentation of the team taking into account national specifics), individual testing in the academic disciplines "Theory of Statistics", "Socio-Economic Statistics", "Population and Labor Statistics", a team round - defense of a project based on a previously conducted statistical study.

Paying tribute to the heroic feat of peoples in the Great Patriotic War, the leitmotif of the festival was the theme of the 80th anniversary of the victory. Belarusian student statistics presented a project on the topic "Factors of Victory: statistical analysis of the socio-economic development of the national economy of the USSR in 1928-1970". Using multivariate statistical methods, our students proved that the victory in 1945 was ensured not only by heroism at the front, but also by the unique balance of the military economy.
