Unified Information Day at BSEU: "Chernobyl: From Revival to Sustainable Development"

On April 16, the Belarusian State Economic University hosted a Unified Information Day dedicated to the theme: "Chernobyl: From Revival to Sustainable Development."

Andrey Vasilyevich Maltsev, Head of the Main Department of Justice of the Minsk City Executive Committee, spoke to the students and staff. He told the audience about the large-scale consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear accident that the Republic of Belarus faced. Andrey Vasilyevich noted that the country continues its systematic work to mitigate the aftermath of this tragedy.

Thanks to a set of measures – the resettlement of residents from contaminated zones, agrochemical and agrotechnical protective measures, as well as the implementation of state programs to overcome the consequences of the disaster – the Republic of Belarus has returned more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land to economic use.

Another speaker that day was Vyacheslav Alekseevich Sabansky, Second Secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the "BRSM" public association (Belarusian Republican Youth Union). Vyacheslav Alekseevich reminded the students that 40 years later, it is very important not to forget about the Chernobyl tragedy, to remember those who, at the cost of their health, eliminated the consequences of the accident, and to pass this memory on – from generation to generation.

*This year, on April 26, it will be 40 years since the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
